Ed Beechinor-Collins

I would like to nominate Ed. This year has seen the Club become a Go-Ride club with qualified structured coaching sessions regularly taking place. Ed has been pivotal to the success of this. Ed has negotiated free use of local schools to enable traffic free coaching to take place, and free use of Ponteland Club House for attendees. The coaching has been a great success for Adult and Children paricipants, with some becoming club members. The profile of the club has been raised as a result including attendance at the Ponteland fun day. Ed has also organised the Club cyclocross event in the Summer which was a great success with all family involvement, which is what the club should be about. There is also another cyclocross event being held in Novemenber which is also BC recognised and will attract many participants. Ed also held a Family fun day to promote Go ride which was well attended and again a great success. Ed has spent a great deal of time in meeting people and arranging events for people to enjoy riding their bikes, learning and having fun along the way. Ed is always supportive, offering advice to all of us coaches and is so enthusiastic to all. Brian Craven

I would like to nominate Ed as club person of the year.  Ed has been the driving force behind the club becoming a go-ride club, as a result we now have regular go-ride sessions running each Saturday in Ponteland. Not only is Ed coaching, he has dedicated time to organise facilities, worked with the schools, organised Cyclocross races, made funding applications with external bodies, and thoughout all this he has encouraged the next generation of cyclists for the club. His work this year has made a difference for the club which could benefit us for years. Chris Heppell

Kirsty Boak

Kirsty has represented the club throughout the year in circuit races and time trials, finishing the season ranked 4th in the country for her age group.  She capped har season by becoming National Champion in the GHS finals. Roger Clarke

Roger Clarke

Because quite simply no one does more for this club than Roger. Alan Dick

Go-Ride Team

I would nominate the entire Go-Ride team, they have put in an enormous amount of time and effort into the project for the club, in both gaining coaching quals and facilitating coaching sessions and attending meetings etc. Austin Wilcock

Bob Melrose

I would like to nominate Bob Melrose for Club Person of the year! Bob is pretty much a constant on the Saturday rides and can be always be relied on to take a group, as long as it's a slow one. Bob always has a smile on his face and has single handedly revised the Saturday ride leader / cafe situation for the better as well as being the driving force behind the Thursday Togs ride. Bob ticks all the boxes for Club Person of the year. Friendly, approachable, organised, punctual and most of all a passionate supporter of The Tyneside Vagabonds! Danny Winthorpe

Bob Melrose is my choice this year for dedication and passion for the Vagabonds. He has took it upon himself to transform saturday and thursday rides with out him I think both would of suffered, just look at the numbers turning out now. He marshalls when he can which is very difficult due to his family commitments. John Allen

I'd like to nominate Bob Melrose for club person of the year. He's gone we'll out of his way to organise the Saturday rides and he never fails to make new members feel welcome and looked after! Steven Gilligan

Bob Melrose has worked really hard in organising the Saturday rides. Karen Colleran

I would like to nominate Bob Melrose as club person of the year. Bob has shown great enthusiasm for the club and club rides. He has instigated the mid week Tog ride, and has put in an enormous amount of effort in organising the ride leader rota for Saturday rides, communicating not only with the ride leaders but also the ride venues. Alan Holmes

Anna Turvey

Every National Champion within the club deserves to be nominated as club person of the year.  Anna became National Duathlon Champion in March, achieved a top 10 placing in the National 10 mile Time Trial Championships, and has just won bronze in the World Triathlon Age Group Championships in Auckand, a fantastic achievement. Roger Clarke

Danny Winthorpe

Danny has shown continuing commitment to the club this year, taking part in loads of events and volunteering to lead weekend ride groups more often than not. We have both noticed that he is one of the most disciplined ride leaders in the way he maintains a consistent pace and sets a great example of controlled group riding. He makes new club members feel welcome and cycles with them, at their own pace, to make them feel included in the group. His regular supply of jokes aren't bad either. Michelle Wright & Phil Harle
