The weather had rained continually before the event with wide spread flooding across the country. This may have been a factor in the low turn out for the event with twenty entries, four of which were from Vagabonds.
The start had been put back to 7.30 due to the lack of entries. The weather was warm and the roads were damp. The conditions dried out later in the ride. Ray Ross started first of the club riders and led on the road until the end of the first lap. Roger Clarke took over the lead on the road until North Seaton Roundabout on the way to the turn on the second lap, where Howard overtook. Dennis Fuller jumped on Howard’s wheel and tried to hang on to help the Zeus in the team prize. Roger had to dig deep to catch up to “remove” Dennis from the wheel. Roger managed to pull 30 seconds out in the last quarter of the race to drop Dennis. This linked with Paul’s ride with a broken tri bar arm rest helped to Vagabonds to the N&DCA team award for the 50.
