Re: Sunday C5 winter rides

This week's ride is to Warkworth. Round trip of 60 miles from Ponteland, taking in Shilbottle on the way there but coming generally straight back. Weather looks ok but expect a headwind back to Pont.

Re: Sunday C5 winter rides

This Sunday's C5 destination is Chollerford. I won't be out so someone will need to find their way there and back. Looks like it could be frosty to start with so be careful on the way there!

Re: Sunday C5 winter rides

I've posted the rides calendar up until end of March on the website calendar. The planned destinations are optimistic for good weather!

This Sunday is a 56 mile route with lunch in Rothbury, fairly flat in the morning and hilly on the return.

Re: Sunday C5 winter rides

Thanks Andy - I checked their website and it didn't mention any closures. Guess I'd better plan something else - Hexham looking likely.

Re: Sunday C5 winter rides

Tomorrow's ride is to Chollerford - planned route is 53 miles via Wark taking in a few less-used lanes and includes (as described to me some years ago) a few conky bits! Lanes will be mucky so don't forget your mudguards.

I'll get a full calendar of C5 rides posted in the next week.

Re: Sunday C5 winter rides

As Capheaton is closed this weekend I'm changing the destination for this Sunday's C5 ride to Hollybush. The weather looks ok so planning a route to the cafe via Slaley and then a more direct route back to Pont.

As ever, mudguards mandatory.

Re: Sunday C5 winter rides

Forecast for tomorrow looks ok, though possibly some frost overnight. Planning a 50 mile route mostly on B roads, cafe stop in Hexham. A gentle reminder that mudguards are mandatory on C5 Sunday rides in winter. If you don't have mudguards then please don't turn up for the ride - I don't want to be ...

Bellingham tomorrow. Forecast is for a westerly wind gusting 40mph. Planning to ride straight there via Wark, then back via Sweethope Lough. 9.30 at Jan's.

Top stuff Pete, 36th is an excellent result. Photos make it look like you dropped everyone!

Maybe you didn't have the same 'preparation' as Eric Dekker!

Re: New Club Jersey Badge - Survey ends 1st Dec

Hi Keith, You raise an interesting question. The club celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 1987, and I can recall discussion ahead of the 70th about whether it should be 1937 or 1947 (we stuck with 1937). My view is that if in 1987, when many members present, including the founding member of Vagabonds...
