Re: Sunday C5 winter rides

Planned ride for tomorrow is to Swarland - but like Gordon I've had enough of getting soaked every time I go out, so unless the weather changes dramatically from what is forecast fr tomorrow I won't be out.

Re: Sunday C5 winter rides

5 of us out for an excellent ride to Alnmouth last Sunday. Weather forecast this weekend doesn't look quite so good, but then it has been forecast wet two and three weeks ago and didn't turn out too bad. Planned destination this week is Allendale. Expect to be back in Pont nearer to 3pm than 2pm I t...

Re: Sunday C5 winter rides

After a couple of weeks where weather proved to be better than forecast.
This Sunday's ride is to Alnmouth (correction from my original post!!). Yet to plot a route but it will be generally flat.

Mudguards essential!

Re: Sunday C5 winter rides

Tomorrow's ride is to the cafe at Otterburn Mill. I've got a 55 mile route planned.

Last week's weather was nowhere near as bad as forecast - we stayed dry to Rothbury and the rain was only light on the way back. Hopefully tomorrow will also be better than forecast!

Sunday C5 winter rides

I've put destinations into the calendar for Sunday C5 rides through until Christmas.

Meet at Jan's for a 9.30 start, back by 3pm, probably earlier for some destinations.

I can't guarantee to be riding every week but happy to lead the group when I'm out.

This week's ride is to Rothbury.

Club hill climb champs

Firstly, thank you to Nick Wild, and Alan Dick, for running the hill climb.

Hugh was taking photos on the hill which are now available in this album:

Re: Edinburgh to York record

He (Richard Sharp)came through at 10.06, bang on his schedule, having left Edinburgh at 6am. So 96 miles in 4:06! Had a brief chat with him as he got stopped at the lights and he was in good spirits - and pleased for a short break. He broke the record by about 13 minutes, new record being 7 hours 56...

Edinburgh to York record

Someone is attempting to break the record for cycling from Edinburgh to York tomorrow, Saturday 7th Sept. Leaving Edinburgh at 06:00 he should be riding through Ponteland around about 10am. I'm intending to give him a shout from the bridge in Pont. It is a rare opportunity to watch the slightly stra...
