Club vets 12 hour record

Post by Roger Clarke » Fri Aug 24, 2018 7:37 pm

Last Sunday I rode the West Cheshire 12 hour time trial and managed to set a new club vets record for ages 45-49 of 242.04 miles. It was previously held by Don Speight but he still keeps his record for ages 50-59.

My result means I've qualified for the British Best All Rounder competition this year, currently sitting in 39th place with an average speed of 22.946 mph over my 50 mile / 100 mile / 12 hour races.

If anyone is interested, I've done a write-up of how my race went, which you can find here:
https://www.rogernclarke.com/another-cy ... re-12-hour

Don't let my account of my race put anyone off from having a go at one. The lowest distance recorded on the day was 171 miles, less than 15 mph average, and a lot of people in the club could manage that or more if they had nothing else to worry about for 12 hours other than ride their bike. You can stop whenever you want for as long s you want (within reason). I hope some more club members will give one a go - I'm more than willing to offer any advice I can, as I'm sure would Don.

Well done Roger!
I love riding my bike but I have no desire to sit on it for 12 hours and endure all that pain and those emotions  ... chapeau! Congrats on your PB, BBAR result and the vets record, all well deserved indeed.

Excellent ride Roger, well done. And a great write up - and yes I am very willing to pass on advice. I honestly enjoyed riding my first 12 hour last year. It's a great experience.
